How to remove annoying ads in KMPlayer Permanently
If you are a KMPlayer user you may have encountered annoying pop ups of different media ads and other useless stuffs like this:
This can be very annoying if you don’t want any suggestions or advertising made on your media player. More of all the KMP users are using it for the simplicity of it, so making it complex would defy its purpose that it had been serving. But luckily you can remove all these annoying ads in KMplayer permanently using this simple trick. I am going to recommend you the hosts file editing approach. Add this following lines (as new lines right at the bottom) to your hosts file:
127.0.0.1 player.kmpmedia.net 127.0.0.1 log.kmplayer.com 127.0.0.1 cdn.kmplayer.com 127.0.0.1 cdn.pandora.tv
You can find host file under C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts. In order to paste the above lines, you need to take full administrative control over the “hosts” file. To do this right click on it go properties>security>edit>users> check all the boxes to allow, then click ok.
Now “open with” the host file with notepad (by right clicking), now you can edit it. Paste the lines in the notepad right in the bottom as new lines and save it. You are done! Now no pop ups will appear on kmp ever! And you can enjoy your preferable media without any ad disturbance 🙂 Comment below if this trick works for you. Thanks!
You can also easily block any website you want editing the host file and pasting the website name you want to block. Read detail instruction here.

I love the KM Player, BUT those damn ads drive me nuts and so did the additional Ad-Ware!!! I used KM No Ads step by step video, because I got pretty confused trying to eliminate them with the above steps. I am so far liking the player more than my windows media player, quicktime, and VLC. KM Player is great, but only without the ads!
sure it is
ya it works
happy to help 🙂
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! I got it wrong first try because I typed # before the line.
welcome! glad that it worked for u!
thanks for ur input! will update the post
Hi, when I want to play whole folder, I click on it with right click and unfortunatelly only VLC or Windows players coming up as an option. No KMPlayer… please advise? I am on Windows 8.1 Thank you!
right click> go to “open with option” > click “more options” > check to “look for another app in the pc” option in the bottom > now double click the kmp icon in your pc where it is installed. (usually c:program files|kmplayer or in your desktop) done! now everytime it will open with kmp.
hope it helps! tell us if it works for u or not. thanks!
Hello Motasim, thank you for fast reply. Single file playing gives you
option you have mention (open with), but not folder playing. This is
exactly the problem…:) To play folder on KMPlayer, I have to open
player, chose in menu Play folder, load songs and ONLY then I can play
the folder. Too much of unnecessary clicks. Also, association check
can’t be saved. So while I was fighting with all that stuff I found
great player AIMP3. No adds, wonderful interface and sound quality,
Highly recommend…:)
My best regards,
Mrs. Brener
